In Tudor times, each Isle of Wight parish was supposed to keep a       gun, in case the Island was invaded. This is the Carisbrooke parish       gun. It is now in Carisbrooke Castle Museum.

	Notes on the Gun This kind of gun is called a falcon. It is about metres long. It is made of bronze. It fired a 3lb shot. It fired nearly 300 metres at point blank range. It could send a shot about three quarters of a mile if the shot was lobbed.
